I'm one of those people that get bored with one side and then switch. I have a level 70 alliance paladin, a 62 alliance rogue, and 8 other alts ranging from level 50 to level 20 something. On another server, which I changed to when I got bored, I have a level 80 horde hunter, level 80 horde priest, and various level 40 to 20-something alts.Currently, I'm not playing much, and pondering switching back to the alliance for a change of scenery again. Though it'd have to be a new server... I like the newness of the zones, the excitement of getting a green item that is an upgrade, the limit of bag space... Basically, the challenges of being a non-twinked low level character. And yes, with the current mail system, twinkitis is something I suffer from... too easy to twink.
80 Night Elf Druid.80 Human Priest.73 Draenei Death Knigh.and 7 characters of all classes between the levels of 12 and 61.The funny part is that I had a Tauren Druid and Blood Elf priest that I raided with in TBC. Alot.

I'm not that commited to most of my alts but most of them get played time to time. I only have the one 80 and 75 dk...after that there all below 60.I don't know about others but most of my alts are rolled either from wanting to do something I have seen a party member do or getting annoyed at a class specialty being used against me in PvP (mainly BGs). Its why I have a druid in amongst my list of alts because I got sick of having druids shape shift against me.I have a mate who has way to many alts. Pre lich king he had about 10+ 70s. The nice thing about the alt o holics is they usually know good places to quest and know quite a lot more than the average person starting a class.
From my profile:
Funny you should write this blog now. I feel the exact same way, because I just rolled a paladin. I've always been on my rogue, doing endgame PvP and lots of HC's to get good gear etc. Also, cant neglect the fact that i spent way too much time on completing those stupid achievements. But now that i started playing a Pala (he's lvl 11 by now) and I can see how fun it is (the ability to heal yourself alone makes it a great experience when you're used to being a rogue), I'm kinda bothered by the idea that my rogue isn't going to be my main anymore, as I'm not really going to put any time in him. But as you say, it's probably a route we have to take, and make a choice: endgame or alts. I just haven't made my choice yet. I also think of it as positive going the 'alt way', because the way i see it, you get as much out of the game as possible. When starting an alt, it's almost as if you're playing a new game. The classes are so different, and mastering them takes alot of time. Where on the other hand, endgame can be very dull and repetitive; Raid, dailys, HC over and over. PvP isn't really offering much new and challenging contect either. But yeah, brilliant article and very relevant.

In order of creation:Combat Rogue - lvl 63 - was my only 60 until days before BC came out.Feral Druid - lvl 80 - turned 80 yesterday, was my only alt for the longest time, got stuck at 40-something and leveled to 70 around the middle of BC.Shadow Priest - lvl 73 - my 2nd lvl 60 and 1st lvl 70. Tired a bit of him.Ret Paladin - lvl 70 - first horde 70 - leveled 40-70 prot, went ret a bit to try out and has been left in the dust ever since.Blood Death Knight - lvl 73 - was about to quit, but someone said to check out the starting quests of the DK since they were ... awesome. Got hooked for a bit, but is left for now.In addition to that I have a lvl 20 something paladin which is now used as a storage char, a 39 mage (no twink, just stopped at 39), a lvl 30 shaman which was made to be a 29 twink, but then I wanted to try leveling her up, didn't get far to say the least. Not really defining myself with altitis, but I tire of any given char within a relatively short timespan. So I go to something else. Be it on another server or just another char. I'm also known to move chars between servers if there's a char I have on another server that I want to play on that one particular server right now...Edit: Oh yeah, and I think I've reached lvl 20-25 on three different warlocks and a couple of hunters. Pet classes really don't do it for me.
I have atm (spread on various servers and fractions):80 Paladin72 Hunter71 Rogue70 Death Knight70 Warlock70 Warrior66 Mage46 Shaman40 Druid31 Hunter22 Mage19 Priest17 Warlock15 Warrior14 Rogueand 3 bankcharsSo yea i have the Alt-disease too.
My characters so far: 80 Rogue72 Death Knight61 Death Knight39 Hunter34 WarlockAnd I think I have a problem with me, lol. You guys can't stop making alts... I can't get the nerve to actually make them. It's just.... I have so many low-levels (or have had them), that leveling from 1 - 20ish just gets repetetive. I've done all those areas before, and I like new content.
On my main server I have ...80 Night Elf SV Hunter80 Dranei Resto Shaman80 Dranei Fury Warrior58 Human Blood Death Knight51 Human Ret Paladin29 Gnome Frost Mage20 Dwarf Shadow Priest14 Tauren Feral Druid14 Undead Affliction Warlock10 Gnome RogueDoes not include several on other servers including35 Gnome Frost Mage34 Night Elf Feral Druid
I started playing about a month before TBC... my wife and I started night elves on a PVP server, but wanted to play draenai once TBc was released. So we dropped our mid twenties Nelfs and started new toons. Those got to the low 50s before we stopped playing them, a combination of not playing the game much and getting tired of getting ganked all of the time.We stopped playing all together with several characters on the PVP server, other than the 50 I had several that were in the teens and twenties. Then later I started playing again and now have a 46 human pally, a 30 human warlock, and on a different server (now all PVE) I have a 28 belf hunter, a 20 undead priest, a 17 orc warrior, among many others. My main point is, I have been playing (chronologically) since dec 2006… and have tons of play time… but have never been higher than 52… I have NOT seen outland and I can’t get to any Wrath content…But I’m ok with that. I enjoy leveling and I enjoy the old world. My current goal that I’m actually making good headway on, is to level my human pally at least to 55 and get wotlk to try the DK. Their starting area sounds pretty awesome and I want to experience that. However, I still get tired of the same toon, so I also started an undead mage to play with while I let my pally rest. Anyone been around the game for years and never see any form of end game? :)
