I have two distinct problems with this ...1) This "fix" make no sense whatsoever, why the hell put an item from SL to do it. It would make a lot more sense just make the upgraded item with the same value as the original one. That way they wouldn't kill a completely new market, Relics of the Past. Now, it just doesn't even worth the time or the gold invested. 2) They completely killed any kind of raw gold, now we are limited to flipping on AH or try to win a losing battle against all the multi boxes for farming. In other words, boosting communities it is.
it was too insane guys. we cant just create gold from nothing, this would lead to inflation. im glad they fixed this
good news for most player bad news for farmer hahahaand i'm farmer :D
Look it was probably always going to get fixed but I think they have come with a good idea, made it really lucrative by some poor mechanic choices and then decided the only way to be sure was to nuke it from orbit. It could have been softened - a lot - without gutting it.Oh well, meaningless to me to be fair as I never stockpiled - was just going to roll with it when it came live.
I felt great disturbance across the auction house, as if millions of speculators cried out in terror...
That's how gambling works people.
I'm not in the least bit surprised this happened given the pants shuffle printing press has gone on as long as it has. Although it's hard not to be disappointed in the developer's choice of a wrecking ball approach when a simple scalpel would have done the job quicker, cleaner and left a finished product worth using solely for it's original purpose. Some old world recipes might still have reasonable use as intended but if the cost of producing them is prohibitive, the system will go unused. What a complete waste given all the time put into creating and testing it only to have some overzealous dev turn it into a train wreck when all they ever needed to do was reduce or outright remove the vendor price from augmented pieces of equipment.
I'm seeing a lot of disappointing takes here. It seems a lot of you were first introduced to the relic system followed someone telling you how much gold you can make with them through vendor flips right afterward. The purpose of relics of the past is quite clear. It is to smooth out gear progression available to you if you craft as you level up in the new 1-50 single expansion leveling paradigm. This was never meant to facilitate any number of vendor shuffles, all of which involve you crafting entire inventories of product for hours of time only to sell to a vendor en masse. They would never design with that as a goal or accept that as a collateral outcome. It's degenerate gameplay and insanely inflationary in it's form before this change and it shouldn't have to be explained why this inflation would effect every player negatively. Look up tulip mania if you want a historical example similar this.I will say, the amounts of additional materials seem a little on the high side but that can be tuned down later and even if they aren't, it won't seriously deter the use of Relics for their true intended use. But it will definitely shut off the massive gold flood.
Good, glad to hear this.
When investing, it helps to make educated guesses as to what will and won't happen. The educated guess in this case, when the vendor flip was so lucrative, was that Blizzard would address it somehow. Since Blizzard doesn't always do what seems logical, it would've been prudent to stockpile a very limited amount of materials for the flip. I'm sure the people who actually know how to make money did just that and are neither surprised nor severely impacted.
Excellent. Rawgold is a mistake.
Wait I have to wait until Shadowlands to use these relics?
I was too lazy to stockpile for this, now I'm glad. However, I prefer rawgold farming over normal farming because the multiboxers are killing me...if Blizz is killing raw gold they should do something about the multiboxers, limit them in someway. I have seen in certain farm places 2 multiboxers, each with at least 5 chars...that's just bad...for everyone trying to play the game and for the economy.
so now when they fix obvious bugs that would help us its called nerf?
Gold-making vendor shuffles aside, this is a poor solution as 1) levelling players won't have access to Shadowlands vendors to purchase the extra reagents and 2) making level-appropriate gear for those same levelling players won't be worth it, most of the time. The Relics were supposed to make the gear professions viable for levelling players coming through older expansion content, rather than have them level professions in those zones that gave them useless gear.
125g to create old gear? Who will do that? No one will buy or craft this.
Poor samadanplayswow, he got many guildbanks full of material for the relict 😳
