My bear self is still sad...
Ursoc foreverWinter Queen never
So they know players are gonna get upset for sure. I'm guessing there's gonna be a gimmick where Ursoc's soul will be restored? BEING REAL HOPEFUL HERE.
My thoughts on Ursoc's "spirit" being in the emerald dream is that it is just that a dream version of him, much like druids don't actually go into the dream; they just enter a slumber, which being in the seed pod in Ardenweald is called the long slumber. So since Ursoc's actual spirit is gone, so is his version in the Emerald Dream.
Gotta say, this was a good cinematic but it definitely didn't endear me to the Night Fae. Going in blind, all this really tells me is that they're willing to sacrifice beings from our world to save their own, which makes me more wary than anything else. I'm sure they'll paint them all more sympathetically in-game but as-is, I'm not looking to join the Night Fae any more.Poor Ursoc.
With regards to Ursoc appearing at the end of Emerald Nightmare, remember that Ysera does as well – its likely that as beings destined for Ardenweald they may have some agency over how and when they leave the mortal plane, and so may stay behind for a time to tend to whatever business they feel the need to. In Ursoc's case he may have stayed long enough to ensure the victory of the heros that stopped him and the other corruption of the Emerald Nightmare.
Happy Ursoc as the thumbnail still hurts me so. HE WAS SO PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP.
By far, one of the LAMEST cinematics I have seen in a long time. Was hoping for something involving Tyrande or about the effects of the fall of Darnassus. Hope the Revendreth one builds the hype.
I feel like people saying The Night Fae are evil for sacrificing Ursoc to save Ardenweald are completely disregarding Ursoc as a character. Most of the spirits going to Ardenweald are spirits who served and protected The Wilds in their life. You really think they wouldn't give their lives to save Ardenweald which is an important aspect to that process?
Its also kinda weird that people are complaining about the Night Fae "sacrificing" spirits after this given that we already knew that they were letting groves wither to save others – what did you think that meant? If you have limited resources, you aren't going to just let them rot on the ground your going to actively extract them.
Last time I went through on Beta, when asking what happened to Tirna Noch, the "not yet implemented" screen was different than a regular NYI in-game cutscene, so I think you're right that this cinematic will play instead. Same with Draka when you ask about her history.
poor bear
One can make the argument this cinematic was better than Bastion. It's easy to say that cinematic was great because it had Uther and Arthas in it we all know and love them. This cinematic made a lot of people feel something towards a character, sure we all knew, but never gave this much thought over referring to Ursoc. This was also done with a bunch of characters we don't even know yet. This was well done by Blizzard.
What if its an illusion? What if that wasn't actually Ursoc...WHAT ARE YOU HIDING
something i noticed and i see no one talking about is how the dudes harvesting the souls put them in some weird crystals in their hips but with ursoc soul he like put him in his staff.idk if it was on purpose or just meant he doesnt have a crystal, maybe there´s still hope for ursoc to come back in the future.
