These aren't even remotely fair. Venthyr seems to me like the best for nearly every single common situation in open world, dungeons, or raids. For DPS, it seems like you'd be willingly taking a substantial dps throughput loss (or literally just making things take longer or just simply be harder for your group) if you take anything other than Venthyr. Necrolord and its on-death requirements or needing to be triggered from channeling Fleshcraft, Kyrian and their phials are tailors heavily around self-healing or mitigation with incredibly situational windows for throughput gain, Night Fae is all movement-req memes that will be annoying so gd fast and you KNOW it. But hey, that first time you attack the boss...OOOOOF! They better watch out! This whole system is so disappointing. Damn... just damn.And Door of Shadows can be instant, of course. But taking that Soulbind relegates you to silly crap like better M+ routes, up to 100% longer combat pot (nbd nbd!), free 800 dmg shield for any teammate that does anything helpful to you, and an 8 minute cheat death. Oh, and free xmog.What the actual deep-fried hell is this? Are we going to just pretend that people won't be ridiculed straight down the toilet for making the wrong choices here? Are we just going to act like there are actual choices here at all?This bothers me way more than it should. I can't look at Soulbinds and not see a failed concept.
There are 2 sides to this from what I see.
I do think it will be ok with the 4 different covenant abilities for each class in Arena and PvP in general, because these are made with the design of the class in mind. Perhaps also legendary effects even tho these were not available in arena in Legion. However, the general convenant abilities and the soulbinds system just cannot be active. It has too be a PvE feature only! If it is not , then this will without doubt give certain classes and races utility that they just shouldn't have with their core designs in mind. I personally really hope it will be deactivated for Arena and PvP, else I think it will result in a horrible PvP expansion..
I love the comments here about: "Don't sim, just play what's fun!" "Only try hards think there's no choice!" Please tell me how that is going so far with Corruptions this patch? How that went with Essences or Traits this entire expansion? Please, please tell me how you got Glad or M-Nzoth with no mandatory corruptions for your spec/class. This kind of delusional and denial thinking is what birthed systems like these. I already can see this entire system having to be re-haul at 9.1

Additionally Kyrian looks solid , the Phial will definitely be reworked to not have to interact with the owl dude during combat or something. Phial can heal you for 45% health over 10 sec not including classes using their own abilities.Additionally, things like ther 5% heal added to a target being echoed to yourself if you are the target or healing others is sick. 5% mastery being permanent walking through bad memories or what the text said sounds sick .More investigation and testing is needed.
We should start panicking. Half of those abilities are game breaking. I'm talking PvP. No one rly cares what happens to PvE and PvE balance is a known meme for 15 years, but let's be real for a moment. There are game breaking abilities on at least 3 covenants. This looks worse than corruptions.
