Oh my God, the breaths you can make if you ally with the venthyr.
Hard to judge those now as numbers are probably far from being final.
These abilities are all SO COOL! While it kills me to suggest anything to limit the creative process of the Blizzard team (because I feel like they get handcuffed enough as it is) I reallllllllly wish they weren't locked to the covenants and were, instead, a max level talent row that had visual / aesthetic themes that relate to your covenant. There is so much goodness coming in Shadowlands but it's going to be a bummer if people feel like they need to join a covenant that doesn't fit their aesthetic or character preference because of the ability and it's going to sour the rest of the game which otherwise looks FANTASTIC!Please please, a class-wide max level talent row with visual changes based on covenant - please!
Guess I'm going with abomination limb. Nice to have an extra hand, you know?
I'm really interested in seeing these effects in-game. I can certainly see how each would shine in different scenarios, but I really hope they feel impactful and not necessarily just another button that you press here and there.
This is not a good idea blizzard. If im a blood DK how do I not go Night Fae / Kyrian. The Necrolords abbility doenst even come close in power level. Please just decouple these abilites from the covantents or somehting. I dont want to have to pick based on whats best, I wana pick the one i thinks cool.
Man, now I wanna watch Death Becomes Her. Death's Due is probably my favorite flavor-wise, but my orc DK is so gonna rock that Abomination Limb.
Great, this just confirms that these covenant things will have a equivalent to "BiS" and we'll have to choose it or be denied in groups.Shadowlands so far seem to be a huge disappointment.
These abilities are great, especially venthyr but as a DK I wanna go with necrolord. I just hope blizz will have it to where you can switch out these covenant abilities easily after you go through a process once to unlock them. They can keep the cosmetic locked by what covenant you're with but not having it to change to these abilities for certain situations is going be unmotivating if there is an annoying system in place via time or money.
Exactly what I was afraid of. Blood DKs who mostly play Mythic+ will feel forced to play Night Fae, those who play raids will feel forced to play Kyrian, frost are gonna feel forced to play Venthyr for the ressource boost, and PVP players will use Abomination Limb for the obvious second-death grip utility. Which means if you want to go any other route because you're more interrested in this or that story, get f'd. Choose optimization over story, or chose story over optimization. You want to play Venthyr because you want the big tombstone on your back but you want to play Necrolord because the set suits you better? HAHAHA, life's funny that way right?PS : In the above example, I know you can't get rewards from both at the same time. But it USED TO BE, we could farm transmogs on one character and equip them with another. Now, you won't be able to, because even if you use your alts to get those transmogs, you still need to be of the relevant covenant to transmog them. Or use their mounts. I hate the expression "Fun Police", but this is a prime exemple of Blizzard playing fun police for no other reason than to piss off people. And for those defending blizzard saying "But it makes more sense that way lore wise !", I'll just tell you this : it doesn't make sense. We have recolors of class sets available to all (like a paladin wearing a DK recolor), and yet we can't use these if we haven't signed with the correct covenant? Why? "Player agency" was the key word for Blizzcon. Let us have our rewards how we want them, not how you see it.I want to be able to unlock every set, from every covenant, for every armor type. And I want to be able to use them as I see fit. I don't want to farm for months to obtain these 16 sets and only be able to use 1 on each character. For 15 years you've made the game more and more free in term of customization. Accound-shared mounts, account-shared transmogs, class sets recolors obtainable on other classes, weapons transmogged into other types of transmogs .... This is going absolutely backwards.PS2 : Oh by the way, that also goes for artifact weapons. Give us the possibility to transmog our beast master rifle into our marksmanship bow. Let us transmog our unholy sword into our blood axe. Our Ebonchill into our Arcane talking staff. Etc, etc. Especially since most of these weapons have recolors specifically designed for another spec. Also for dual wielding and shield users, let us transmog one part and not the other. Anyway, sorry for the rant.EDIT : (yeah I know, more text)I see people saying stuff like "Don't think of only numbers". He's the issue, you're playing an RPG. Part of an RPG is making your character ever stronger. If the Night Fae introduction takes way your weapon because they're hippies and tell you "Oh no if you want to be with us you shall never equip a weapon for the rest of the expansion !", it's not gonna feel good. No matter how much it makes sense. Gameplay affecting mechanics SHOULD NOT impact your identity (as your character).EDIT 2 : (yeah I love writing stuff no one will read) There's something else being an issue here. Legion offered a TON of customization. Mounts, class sets every patch, order hall campaigned designed around your class identity, artifact appearances grindable from almost all forms of gameplay in the game.Battle for Azeroth very much lacked this. No artifact weapons, no class sets (instead we've had 12 raid sets (16 if you count Ny'olotha), 8 Warfront/pvp sets, and heritage armors (which are only usable on a specific race). In comparison, Legion had 48 raid sets (one per class and per raid). Also, as the pvp sets were the same models as the raid sets, each set came with 7 recolors (LFR, normal, heroic, mythic, alliance, horde, gladiator), while the BFA raid sets get 4 recolors each, and the warfront sets only 2 (the aspirant gladiator is a third, but the elite version is sadly not implemented in the game). And I'm starting to get worried with shadowlands. We know they're going the same route of "One set per armor type" for raids, and we know we get one set per covenant, per armor type. But the covenant armors are only available if you've joined that specific covenant, which means effectively, if you play warrior for example, you'll get a wholesome TWO new armors during the first six months of the game. One plate armor in the raid, and your plate covenant armor. Make that three if the PVP sets aren't a recolor. I promise I won't add more text.
