so if activition is counting users multiple times, like if i login to hearthstone, diablo 3, wow, overwatch, and starcraft, i'm counted as 5 users. and if i login on a different pc, i'm counted again. so....if i were to take a reeeeaaal generous average (be warned i failed math multiple times) and assume everyone plays at least 2 blizzard games and has logged into at least another device (maybe heartstone on tablet/phone) does 38 mau's really translate to 9.5 mil wow players?(i divided twice. once to turn "2 diff games" into 1 game/user. and again to eliminate the extra device.) assuming i'm doing anything right (doubt it) it's probably more like 6mil wow players cause maybe the avg is 3 games per person.
I did some quick maths, and came up with the following numbers:HotS - ~1 million or less Active players (people saying it's dead)Diablo 3 - ~1 million Active players (people also saying it's dead)Overwatch - 10 million Active players (since that's the number of people who watched overwatch league, but that's still a guess)Hearthstone - ~ 16 - 20 million Active players (this is mostly a guess, I got this number by dividing the remaining 25 million MAUs by 3, then multiplying that by 2, but there are 80+ million Accounts)Then the number you care about most (since this is wowhead), WoW MAUs, aka subs...5 - 9 million subs It makes sense, because they said it was doing better than last xpac, WoD. I guesstimate that WoD had 2-3 million subs near the end of WoD, since there was a large content drought.
pre orders really should have dropped after the BS they pulled with the physical CE
and people wonder why I constantly say Activision has been nothing but bad for blizzard -_- they could have gotten bought by worse like EA but Activision is still one of the 3 unholy triforce of gaming
And even IF Blizzard was bought by activision(Which they were not by the by) Activision despite their problems is seriously overstated in how anti consumer they are, they have done lousy business decisions but nothing that you "have" to buy. I just don't play their games.
And as for you if you don't like how they handle things the easiest solution is to not buy it as opposed to wish disaster upon them because they are doing something that isn't necessarily good. Seriously, let it go and it won't be a problem.
Who cares? Activision is one of the worst companies out there along with others such as EA, not sure how this worthy of reporting.Let's not forget about Activision's patent that was to force people to buy microtranscations in their games.I'd also like to see their quarterly sub numbers too :)
YOu have MAUs and now you can GUESS at max how many people what each of games etc and i will tell you SECRET what is point of knowing if when you have still someone to play with?
So again, I get the criticism of activision, but I think that is the company that does deserve it, Blizzard I don't think is perfect at all but they are good at what they do and to me that is all I want out of a game, fun. Companies like Activision, EA, Ubisoft etc. don't seem to get that.
