vor 10 tagen
With the WoW Classic Season of Mastery launch taking place later today, we've prepared a Tier List for Phase 1, featuring DPS, Healing, and Tank tier lists. Because Season of Mastery is a completely new experience for WoW Classic, the information gathered for this article covers player uploaded data on
Warcraft Logs from the Season of Mastery Beta
Season of Mastery Overview
DPS Tier List WoW Classic Season of Mastery Phase 1
The DPS Tier list sees dramatic changes going into Season of Mastery, as many of the changes in the upcoming season have larger impacts on damage dealers and less so on Tanks and Healers. Changes such as
no world buffs in raid
debuff cap being lifted on raid bosses
new mechanics in Molten Core
Many of the new mechanics in Molten Core are the addition of more adds during boss encounters, making damage over time classes much more viable. In the few Molten Core raids that took place on the Season of Mastery Beta,
s were actually one of the top performing classes. Most Warlocks chose to specialize in the Affliction tree, where they can pick up
. With Warlocks able to multi-dot all adds during encounters, their damage was dramatically higher.

s are just absolute monsters in Phase 1 Season of Mastery.
With so many great spell hit pieces being available on day 1
, Mages will see a huge boost in damage output. Items such as
Runenband der Zauberei
Szepter der grenzenlosen Konzentration
Lord Valthalaks Befehlsstab
all contribute to Mages having much higher Spell Hit. In the previous version of Classic before Season of Mastery, one of the biggest things keeping Mages back was reaching respectable levels of Spell Hit, meaning they should see a huge boost in damage for Season of Mastery!

Without World Buffs and many more adds for boss encounters, Melee will see somewhat of a dip in damage. While this is true, keep in mind that Rogues will have access to the
Rüstung der Finsternis
set, which is an insanely powerful set for the Rogue class. The 4 piece bonus,
Energiegeladene Rüstung des Schurken
is incredibly powerful this early in WoW Classic. In addition to that, the PvP Honor System will be available early on and both Warriors and
s will be able to acquire some of the best weapons in the entire game very early on. When the Rogue reaches Rank 14, they can quickly blow up the damage meters and get back on top, regardless of the other changes in Season of Mastery. Rank 14 Weapons are essentially Ahn'Qiraj quality, meaning they are basically Phase 5 weapons. Rogues can also take advantage of some additional adds by using
for a big damage boost.

s will see the biggest drop off in damage with the lack of World Buffs. One of the main reasons is because how Rage is generated for a Warrior. The more damage the Warrior deals, the more Rage they generate, and the more Rage they generate, the more damage they deal. The damage boost from World Buffs impacts the Warrior much more, because it is closely tied with their Rage generation. Thankfully, the
class isn't completely gutted, because they can reach Rank 14 through the PvP Honor System and acquire extremely powerful weapons very quickly.

s being much more viable, Shadow
s become a must have class in raids and also has a chance to shine because of their ability to multi-dot as well. With additional adds on many boss encounters, Shadow Priests can easily put up
on multiple enemies and deal significant damage. However, they still have Mana issues and will need to rely on consumables to keep going during a boss encounter.
Shadow Priest DPS Pre-Raid BiS Shadow Priest DPS Phase 1 BiS
s will see benefits from additional adds during boss encounters, however the impact of these changes aren't as drastic as it is for the Warlock or Shadow Priest.
s can use
on the adds to see a large increase in damage (accounting for about 5-8% of their total damage during boss encounters). While they can cast the spell on multiple enemies, Serpent Sting's damage is quite low so it is a minimal impact.
on the other hand does do a lot of damage and Hunters can weave this into their rotation for a significant upgrade in damage.

Feral Cat Druid
s won't really get to take advantage of additional enemies, as
are great damage over time abilities, but it takes a lot of time and energy for the Feral Druid to get up a 5 combo point Rip on multiple enemies. Even with powershifting, it isn't as viable damage as spamming
. Because of the Season of Mastery changes not dramatically impacting Feral Cat Druids, they slide down a bit on the damage meters.
Feral Druid DPS Pre-Raid BiS Feral Druid DPS Phase 1 BiS
s don't really shine in Phase 1, as they can run out of mana just as quickly as a Balance
. For an Elemental Shaman to keep up with mana, they'll need a lot of consumes and likely be downranking their primary damage skills. Later in WoW Classic, Elemental Shamans will achieve higher mana pools and last longer in fights. It is possible if the adds are stacked on boss encounters and the fight is short enough, the Shaman can do significant damage.

s can take advantage of the additional adds during boss encounters, spamming
. Unfortunately for the Boomkins, they will run out of mana
quickly and won't be able to keep up higher ranks of these spells. The only realistic way a Boomkin can outperform other more viable damage dealing classes is by just throwing a mountain of gold into the parse. Technically, a Boomkin can do extremely well on the damage meters by spamming
over and over for infinite mana. But that will get quite expensive very quickly.

s and Shadow
s seeing a massive jump in damage, off spec classes such as the Enhancement
actually become somewhat more viable. With such an increase in spellcasters for a raid, the Enhancement Shaman is valuable because of their ability to take advantage of
, applying an important
debuff, increasing the damage of Spellcasters even more. Typically, Enhancement Shaman were a forgettable damage dealing class in Classic, but for Season of Mastery they might be much more important.

Like the Horde's Enhancement
, the Retribution
is the meme melee for the Alliance. And just like the Enhancement Shaman, this time the Ret Paladins might actually be wanted in raids, as they can bring a
to bosses, increasing the damage of spellcasters in the raid.

Healing Tier List WoW Classic Season of Mastery Phase 1
Healers won't really see much of a difference in their raid experience as many of the mechanical changes to Molten Core impact damage dealer viability, and less healer viability. For Season of Mastery, without any class changes, there isn't much happening for healers.
s still reign supreme as one of the best healing classes in WoW Classic Season of Mastery. With both potent individual heals and AOE heals such as
Gebet der Heilung
, they are extremely valuable and even more so on Alliance, which lacks the AOE healing potential of a

s provide some of the best raid buffs in all of WoW Classic, such as
Segen der Könige
Segen der Rettung
. While world buffs are removed, you might as well consider Kings and Salv world buffs of their own, because of how powerful they are. Paladins also have incredible single target healing, slightly out performing Priest in some situations.
Paladin Healing Pre-Raid BiS Paladin Healing Phase 1 BiS
s are the best AOE healing class in the game, hands down, thanks to
. They also provide
Totem des Windzorns
for Horde melee, but that impact is definitely lessened in Season of Mastery. Without World Buffs to really push the melee damage over the edge, Windfury Totem won't quite hit as hard. However, Stacking Restoration Shamans will still be an extremely viable strategy for Horde raids going into Molten Core, as spam Chain Heal will do wonders for keeping a raid alive.
Shaman Healing Pre-Raid BiS Shaman Healing Phase 1 BiS
s aren't really in the same tier as the other healers, they do have some real potential going into Season of Mastery. Without World Buffs, players won't be close to being buff capped and Druids can finally use all of their healing over time effects without worrying about pushing an important buff off. While this is quite exciting for Restoration
s, in Phase 1 of Season of Mastery they likely won't have the mana to really push this to its limits. This will likely become a much bigger deal in later phases when Druids have more mana to work with.

Tank Tier List WoW Classic Season of Mastery Phase 1
Nothing really changes for Tanks other than possibly needing to bring more to raids than before. With so many additional enemies during boss encounters, it will be very difficult for raids bringing few tanks to get through these fights with minimal deaths. Many raids will likely opt to bring at least one Feral Bear
Off Tank to raid, with a bunch of
Nothing really changes here for
s, as they still have the same set of tools to work with in Season of Mastery and adding additional enemies to boss encounters only makes you need more Warriors than before. As you could have expected, Warriors definitely reign supreme as Tanks, having extremely useful defensive skills such as
Warrior Tank Pre-Raid BiS Warrior Tank Phase 1 BiS
Feral Bear Druid
s can't block, they make up for that by being quite thick in the armor department. They don't have any defensive utility, but can pump threat quite well and can succeed as a Main Tank, albeit quite difficult. Many Feral Druids will opt to be a reliable Off Tank in WoW Classic.
Feral Druid Tank Pre-Raid BiS Feral Druid Tank Phase 1 BiS
Unfortunately for Protection
s, Blizzard hasn't implemented any class changes for Season of Mastery, so they are still one of the least viable classes for end game content in Classic, lacking critical skills needed for a Tank to be successful (such as a
ability). They are however one of the best Stockade boosting classes, so at least they have something!
