Taelia, a major character helping the Alliance in Kul Tiras to expose the treacherous Lady Ashvane, is the daughter of Bolvar Fordragon.
When Daelin asked me to leave his guard and raise this child of the Eastern Kingdoms, I struggled to understand why.
Why thrust this burden on me? Why deny me the honor of fighting by his side? I thought maybe I had done something to lose his faith.
Over the years, I have come to realize that the opposite was true. He wanted Taelia to grow up strong of arm and noble of heart - and he had faith that I could make that happen.
King Wrynn, there is someone else you should meet.
Along with your champion, she was instrumental in saving our kingdom - and my life.
It is an honor to meet you, King Wrynn. I am Taelia.
Bolvar's daughter. Raised under our protection since the Third War.
Taelia... please, rise. The honor is mine.
Did you know my father?
Highlord Bolvar was a great man. A true hero of the Alliance - and to me.
I remember now - he used to write you letters. He had a nickname for you-
"My shining star."
The letters stopped coming. I... I have so many questions.
Taelia, when you are ready, come to Stormwind. I will tell you all you wish to know about your father.
In this series of dialogue, we first see Katherine trusting Lady Ashvane--she is on the verge of stepping down as Lord Admiral--until Taelia exposes Ashvane. Much later, it appears Katherine and Jaina have made up, with Katherine calling Jaina the true Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras.
Katherine: But it has not been enough. My dear friend Priscilla and I have discussed this. I believe that what is best for Kul Tiras is that I step down as Lord Admiral... although it breaks my heart.
Lady Ashvane: And mine as well... but we must all make sacrifices. I will shoulder this heavy burden. I can only hope I will be a worthy successor.
Katherine: Lady Ashvane has been my rock since those first dark days when we both lost our husbands. Now, she will be the kingdom's rock. Now... she is -
Taelia: A liar!
Taelia: So, this was your play all along. Despicable.
Ashvane: What is the meaning of this, girl?!
Taelia: Lady Priscilla Ashvane, you are under arrest for trafficking, conspiring with pirates, and high treason against the Admiralty of Kul Tiras. And we have evidence!
Taelia: Your company MADE the weapons that destroyed Daelin's Gate using this!
Taelia: It's called Azerite... and the Alliance and Horde are already at war over it.
Taelia: You hired the pirate fleet, armed them to the teeth, and set them upon your own countrymen.
Taelia: That golem could cleave a ship in half! We can't let Lord Stormsong have a weapon of that magnitude.
Katherine: And I almost... Priscilla... How could you betray the kingdom? How could you betray me?
Ashvane: You're too weak to rule, Katherine. Your family has always been too weak. You had the right of it a moment ago -- it's time for someone else to take charge. The Proudmoore legacy of failure dies with you!
Thank you all for coming. I shall keep this brief.
Division has made us vulnerable. We are beset by enemies from within.
The Horde, too, have made their intentions clear - they would see us burn.
I ask you now to put your faith in my daughter Jaina, the true Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras.
And to put your trust in the Alliance, whose heroes have saved us from our own unmaking.
House Waycrest stands with you, Lord Admiral. And with the Alliance.
Halford Wyrmbane, Shaw, and Turalyon
Halford Wyrmbane of the 7th Legion and Mathias Shaw of SI:7 discuss their respective jobs and motivation.
Shaw: How many campaigns against the Horde does this make for you, Wyrmbane?
Wyrmbane: I stopped counting. I go where the Alliance orders me... and where the Light calls me. But then, you are no stranger to battle.
Shaw: SI:7 was built to work behind the scenes. I prefer to stay in the shadows where I am not so... exposed.
Wyrmbane: I must admit, as a paladin I have questioned the need for spies and assassins within the ranks of the Alliance. But the honor and loyalty you have shown our king is beyond question.
Shaw: Kind of you to say, but if I had to choose between satisfying honor and getting the job done, I'll pick the latter every time. For the Alliance, of course.
Wyrmbane: Oh, of course.
Shaw: Tell me, Wyrmbane, how does a paladin come to lead a force of elite soldiers? Shouldn't you be off consecrating temples or some such?
Wyrmbane: I served as a knight when the Silver Hand was founded. I was dubious that priestly orders could mix with martial skills, so I remained focused on my combat training.
Wyrmbane: But the more I observed those first paladins, one in particular inspired me... Turalyon. His faith sustained him, fueled his dedication and made him a great leader.
Wyrmbane: When he left on the Alliance Expedition to Draenor and was presumed lost, the Light opened my eyes. I realized I could be both a soldier and a paladin. I vowed to honor his sacrifice.
Shaw: When you learned that Turalyon was alive, did it cause you to question your devotion? Your choices?
Wyrmbane: Quite the opposite. To witness Turalyon's return, and to learn how the Light had sustained him--transformed him--only strengthened my resolve. I know my faith was well-placed.
Shaw: Your faith in the Light? Or in Turalyon?
Wyrmbane: The Light will endure long after we are gone. But when this war is over, what will you be left with, Shaw?
Shaw: The next war. And the one after that.
Alleria and Gallywix
We will deal with Blood Prince Dreven soon, General. But this is a rare opportunity to cripple the Horde's military. Everything else must wait.
We can kill that gluttonous goblin any day! If Dreven escapes, we may never find him again.
Gallywix funds the Horde's war campaign and understands Azerite better than the rest of them.
He is their tactical weak spot, and it is rarely exposed. We must strike now.
You saw what Dreven was capable of, Wyrmbane. What if there are more like him?
Forgive my interruption, but I believe you're both right.
We cannot let either of these opportunities escape us... And we don't need to.
Alleria opens a void portal behind her.
Allow your new allies, the void elves, to lead the charge in eliminating Gallywix.
We will hunt him down and bring you his head, while Shandris maintains our focus on tracking that Blood Prince.
A wise strategy. I approve.
Thank you, Alleria. Your aid is most welcome.
The player is given the honor of carrying Vol'jin's ashes to their final resting place in Atal'Dazar.
Hey Vol'jin? Come on outta dat urn. Wait... wait wait... no! Where is de spirit?! Where be Vol'jin?
No! No! Impossible. Da boss ain't gonna like dis. I ain't lost a spirit in... oh dis be bad.
We come bearing da ashes of Vol'jin, son of Sen'jin, to be honored in dis sacred place.
I will bless the civilians.
Vol'jin made a deal with Bonsamdi to defeat the powerful Zalazane.
When Zandalar tried to unite da troll tribes, Vol'jin chose the safety of his people to the dark powers of da prophet.
At de time, Zul's vision of a grand troll empire seemed very tempting to my father. But I must commend ya chieftain for seeing de bigger picture.
When it was clear our Warchief, Garrosh, was unwilling to lead with honor, Vol'jin led the rebellion to depose da warmonger.
It is a hard thing to do what your leaders are unwilling to.
The right to enter is yours. Let it be known dat I find Vol'jin, son of Sen'jin, worthy of dese sacred tombs. Though to enter Atal'Dazar you may need to fight. I recommend de champion be de one to carry dese ashes to dere final resting place.
If the Horde want war, we're going to give them everything we've got!
Our reinforcements await your command.
The dead, dey be fallin'.
Zalazane not be comin' back from dat. Even in death, Vol'jin be watchin' over us.
I need you and Garona Halforcen to assemble a covert unit of Horde champions.
It seems goblins have their uses after all. They continue to discover new deposits of Azerite spread throughout the vast seas.
We must seize the advantage and explore these islands before the Alliance can take them for themselves.
Stromgarde is ripe for the plucking. Should we secure the keep, it will set the stage for a campaign against the Alliance from the heart of the Eastern Kingdoms.
Take the Arathi Highlands, and the enemy will be at our mercy.
Your conversion of Brother Zelling already yields promising results. He has revealed the location of the shipwreck we seek.
I advise you to use the cover of night to perform your search for the remains.
Nathanos, I want you there personally to see that our mission succeeds. You will also be provided with a rather... unique... escort.
You will then send these champions on critical missions throughout Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
You have been reliable thus far -- I trust you will not fail me.
Garona explains why she fights for the Horde to Nathanos.
Nathanos: Your strikes on Alliance targets have been most impressive, Garona. I admit, I wondered if your loyalties might be... divided.
Garona: Because I was once befriended by the young king's grandfather? I murdered him, if you recall.
Nathanos: I am familiar with the tale. I also know that killing Llane Wrynn was not your choice.
Garona: No. And you are doubtless aware that I have worked with the Alliance when it served my purposes. But I owe them nothing. The Horde is my home.
Nathanos: Good. The Alliance deserves no sympathy. No quarter. Make them suffer, and the Dark Lady will reward you.
Garona: I caused the downfall of one king. Perhaps it is time I ended the reign of another.
Garona: The zeal with which you attack the Alliance seems born of more than deference to your queen, Blightcaller.
Nathanos: I once fought for their cause. The Alliance's insufferable arrogance has increased tenfold since they turned their backs on us.
Garona: Turned their backs?
Nathanos: When the Lich King's hold over us was broken, Sylvanas sought allies. Instead of embracing their fallen kin of Lordaeron, the humans spurned us. Hunted us. So I vowed to hunt them.
Garona: Vengeance fuels you. I can appreciate that.
Nathanos: Vengeance. Contempt. Call it what you will.
Nathanos: When the last of his subjects has been slain and raised Forsaken, the boy-king will kneel before the Dark Lady. And at long last, there will be but one queen to rule them all.
Burning of Teldrassil
Shandris has captured
. It appears they have known each other a while, possibly before the exile of the High Elves.
<Shandris's keen eyes scan the horizon. She nods at you in acknowledgement.>
What is your strategy, Shandris?
Shandris, keep a low profile. Stay in the shadows... if you can find any.
Darkness... Sylvanas... is this what you saw... what you wished to save us from?
Shandris, it's been... two, three thousand years? To think we'd meet again like this.
It's a shame you're fighting alongside this filthy human, Shandris! Such short, insignificant lives.
I am destined to live for eternity, I will not die here!
You should have died a long time ago, Areiel. We're here to see that happens.
Even in your final moments, you fail to see the true potential of humans.
We learn that the Night Elves are at a disadvantage because many forces have been sent to Silithus. Malfurion orders his allies to gather troops from Darnassus and to intercept the Alliance fleet.
You may pass through the wall unharmed, $n. The wisps will not harm you.
Shan'do! I came as quickly as I could! I saw the Warchief headed towards Zoram'gar outpost.
She has come for us, Delaryn. The Warchief has come to capture the World Tree.
Our troops, Shan'do -- Tyrande sent them to defend our outpost in Silithus days ago.
Then there is still time! Delaryn, go forth and muster as many troops as possible from our nearby outposts.
$n, travel to Darnassus. Gather as many able-bodied soldiers as you can, but do not leave the city unguarded.
I will intercept our fleet and bring them back to Darnassus.
Now, make haste! This wall will slow them down, but it will not hold forever.
General Feathermoon, the Horde have invaded Darkshore!
We must take action! Sentinels, forward face!
Fourth Fleet, you are to reinforce the southern border of Darkshore! Bring the Glaive Throwers!
Fifth Fleet, create a ley line at the Wildbend River! Rouse our allies at the Grove of the Ancients!
Hippogryph Archers, come with me -- we will regroup in Lor'danel and remain vigilant as a mobile response unit!
That leaves you, hero. Report back to Captain Summermoon and reinforce that border!
Jaina in Thros
There is a new scenario in Thros, the Blighted Lands. Based on the dialogue, Jaina is facing past failures and disappointments in this spirit realm.
What... what is this place?
It's... all my fault...
No! Stay away!
Champion, we must go after her!
The Proudmoore girl is ours, interloper!
Not if I have anything to say about it!
Thros... will consume you...
Jaina is up ahead. Let's hurry!
It's okay, dear...
No! You can't help me! No one can help me!
When Jaina was a child, she used to hide whenever she was frightened or upset.
It looks like we'll just have to find her.
Lead the way, champion.
You left us to die!
You could have stopped him! You could have saved us!
I... wasn't strong enough...
No! Don't listen to them Jaina!
Jaina... you were... are... the pride of Kul Tiras: her power and her fury...
...but even the strongest of us can't save everyone.
It appears that this one was just a mirror image.
We should continue our search.
Well fought! The currents will carry tales of your efforts here for years to come.
It looks like the real Jaina is still hiding.
Let's find her and get her out of this forsaken place.
Another illusion? Jaina must still be trapped somewhere in this place.
That voice? Daelin?!
It must be another of those creatures tormenting Jaina. We must hurry!
Justice was in my grasp... I could've ended them all! Thrall... Sylvanas... the entire wretched Horde!
But you! You stayed my blade, and we were rewarded with betrayal!
It was all my fault...
You find an ominous altar. As you place your hand upon it, words begin to flood your mind.
How will you begin?
Drink deep the shimmering tide...
To breathe in the wisdom of the drowned...
Lost in Her relentless embrace...
Found in the shadow of His gaze...
Dream, dream of the Sunken City.
, we learned about Brother Zelling, a dying member of the Tiragarde who wished to be turned into Forsaken so he could still protect his family. In the latest build, we follow up on that story and see Zelling's reactions once he is transformed. His family treats him as a monster but he agrees to join the Forsaken as long as his family remains safe.
Miss Voss, <cough> please... bring me back... I must help my family... I'll do anything... anything...
What? Your family will think you're a monster, don't be ridiculous!
You'll be shunned if you become one of us. You look in a mirror and all you'll see is a monster.
Please... I need to... take care... of my family... no matter what.
I would... damn my soul... for all eternity... if it meant my family's happiness... please! You must...
Did Captain Stone go mad when she turned? I'm well aware of what happened to her.
We all go a little mad when we become Forsaken. Some more than others.
But part of you survived, correct?
Lilian Voss. Why have you called upon me?
Lilian. We can find other tidesages. You know his family won't accept him.
Bring this man back. He has been chosen to become Forsaken.
As you command, by the power granted to you from Lady Sylvanas.
I... I live! Haha! I must go see Julia and the children, they will be delighted!
... I guess we'll have to see what happens now.
For the last time, STAY BACK! You are NOT my husband!
Why won't you UNDERSTAND?! It's me, your husband... children it's your daddy!
Momma I'm scared of the zombie!
Daddy is right here, just listen to my voice! Why aren't you understanding this?!
Keep it away!
Momma help us!
I don't know who you are, but my husband NEVER tried to hurt me or his children. We are leaving... do not follow us!
Get it away!
Leave us be!
Make the monster go away!
No... Julia... Matthew... Hannah... what have I done? What.. am I?
Lilian tries to show Zelling how he can still survive as a Forsaken even without the love of his family:
I tried to warn you, Zelling. The process changes you. People won't accept you anymore.
And what am I left with? Become a mindless servant to Sylvanas?
You serve no one. Join the Forsaken and carve your own path. You'll be amongst those who accept you for what you've become.
I will join the you... and help you find Captain Valentine. As long as you promise that my family remains unharmed.
You have my word. Come. $n, return to Nathanos and inform him that we have what we need.
"At first, he was peculiarly wary of me and wouldn't let me pet him, which, of course, made me even more determined. It took several years of persistence and T-R-E-A-T-S -- never underestimate the power of T-R-E-A-T-S -- but he has warmed up to me and we're BEST FRIENDS, just like I am with all of my other kitties!
I have to spell out the word so he doesn't hear me, otherwise he will caterwaul and beg, and, well, how can I say no to those enchanting eyes -- just look at them, look at them! They're so full of love and warmth and it just makes me so happy and warm inside! I do try to ration them out a bit so he doesn't become spoiled but -- oh why am I putting on pretenses -- I give him exactly how much he wants!"
Dark Iron Dwarves
The latest build added a scenario in which the Dark Irons are attacked by the Goblins. Ironfoe has been stolen and the Black Anvil has been damaged.
I've had me best workin' on refinin' azerite since it first appeared in our depths.
They're makin' progress. Anduin keeps askin' for updates seems like every day, so I thought we'd show ye what we've learned.
Spineless green turds think to attack us in our home?!
Anvil-Thane, go gather yer sorcerers for a counterattack!
Champion, take the Dark Iron Highway and see that it's secure!
Thaelin, head up through the Hall o' Craftin'! They might be on the way to the Black Vault.
<Moira mutters to herself.>
Just when things started lookin' good fer us.
My people have defeated your kind once, monster. We will do so again!
Alrighty boys 'n' girls, let's wrap it up!
Queen-Regent! Are ye all right lass?!
I'm fine. Ye don't look so good yerself.
Some sort o' pummeler ambushed me and stole Ironfoe!
Son o' the core!
You two, open yer eyes! Look at the Black Anvil!
We will never... relent...
Och, Ironfoe's been stolen and they split the Black Anvil in twain!
Anvil-Thane, Darkanvil, figure out how to repair the Black Anvil.
$n, I've got another task for ye. Those savages were Venture Co. That means they're gonna be in Kezan, probably deliverin' Ironfoe into the greasy hands o' Mogul Razdunk as we speak.
Will ye go recover the hammer? It's a power unto itself and could spell disaster for us if the goblins figure out how ta use it.
