Patch 4.2: Celestial Dragon, Nuts, Brilliant Kaliri, and Mylune's Call Preview
01.06.2011 um 14:50
Vanity items and pets are fun. And if you like them, 4.2 has them in
like any beefy content patch should.
To help show you some of these cool things, we threw together a quick video of the achievement pets plus an item that you get from the 4.2 dailies:
. Originally we were going to just describe the item and its effect in a post, but it's one of those you should see for yourselves hence the video. The effect is surprisingly cool and it can be yours after you complete the second stage of the dailies for a mere 2,800 gold.
The additional pets we're including are the achievement pets. 3D models don't give them justice, especially when their animations are so cool (and, in the case of one squirrel, downright silly).
Arena Passes for 2011 Now Open
04.05.2011 um 12:55
It's that time of the year again--Blizzard has opened registration for the arena tournament realms where players compete for a chance to win exclusive prizes, including
Murkimus' kleiner Speer
and the elusive Vanquisher title. The title is worth getting for the sheer number of questions you'll get, we promise; for some reason, people always seem to think it's a bug with Twilight Vanquisher not displaying properly.
So are you competing this year seriously? Are you facerolling for that pet you've always wanted (he is pretty cute)? Or maybe you've already conquered past years and are passing this time? Let us know in the comments!
Oh and if you're just interested in the pet, it's 50 rated games to qualify by the end of the online qualifier.
Registration for the 2011 World of Warcraft
is now open. Remember, this year all participants in the Arena Pass have a chance to earn the exclusive Armored Murloc pet as well as the exclusive "Vanquisher" title, so get your team together and be ready for fierce competition.

Cenarion Hatchling Giveaway - Comment to Win!
02.05.2011 um 17:47
We here at Wowhead have three
and they need a good home in-game--preferably one that will take them out for a flight around Azeroth every now and then!
All you have to do is tell us what is your favorite vanity pet and why to be entered to win one
. We'll be picking the three lucky owners
tomorrow, May 3rd, at 2PM PDT
and emailing them their codes shortly after.
The rules are quite simple for this mini-contest:
You must be on a US or EU server.
You must have a Wowhead account.
You must comment on this post with your favorite vanity pet. Comments on Twitter and Facebook do not enter you to win.
We reserve the right to disqualify any entry. Other than that there are no restrictions, it's as simple as letting us know what your favorite pet is and why before tomorrow afternoon. Of course, if you already bought one of these hatchlings, you can still enter as well. The more hatchlings the merrier, we say--just give the code you get to a friend!
UPDATE: Contest is closed. Winners were announced

Cenarion Hatchling on Sale, 100% of Profits go to Japan Relief
02.05.2011 um 12:51
Blizzard is doing Japan earthquake relief their own way--with a cute in-game pet!
We've been speculating for a while how Blizzard will help Japan out, but none of us imagined they'd do this!
just went up at the Blizzard store for $10 USD with a notification that 100% of the profits for this pet will be going to the Red Cross. Let's hope a lot of WoW players buy this little guy and help out Japan in the process; it's truly a win-win for people who want to donate to a good cause and get a ridiculously cute vanity pet in the process. Blizzard definitely deserves some commendation for putting this out there to help Japan and making sure that
the proceeds go directly to the charity.
Are you buying one? US players can buy one
and EU players can buy one
We also have a minicontest up for this pet
--do not reply to this post to enter, it will not count!

Children's Week (May 1 - 7) Guide, Including 4.1 Changes
29.04.2011 um 10:07
It's been a while since a holiday has gotten a serious rehaul, but
starts this weekend and it's going to change that. This year the event features a redone quest chain for the initial leg of quests that take place in Azeroth, inviting you and your orphan to tour the changes Cataclysm has wrought. There are some clever additions to the questline as well, notably new ice creams that are served up specifically for the holiday at a mage run shop called
Cone of Cold
and dragon kites to fly with your orphan. Both the kites and the shop can be found in each faction's major capital city.
Additionally, there are two new rewards for those pet collectors:
(reward for new Azeroth quest chain) and
(reward for old Outland quest chain). This means if you've done this event every year, you'll still have a reason to check out this year's celebration.
As usual, we also have
a comprehensive guide
to share with the Wowhead community that outlines everything you need to know about the event in a lot of detail.

A Guide to Patch 4.1's Vanity Items and a Wowhead Comic
27.04.2011 um 19:56
As our own in-house artist Noxy would be quick to point out, 4.1 isn't all about the trolls and the 353 epics. It's also not just a filler patch meant to tide us over until Firelands. In fact, according to her, the patch is very important--it has a lot of shiny vanity items to play with! From ones you dig up to ones you're lucky enough to adopt, there were a lot of little things added in this patch. Read on for a wallpaper about them and a miniguide of where to find these fun items.
Rise of the Cute Kittens
Noxy was so inspired by the new vanity pets that were introduced that she made a wallpaper for you showing her true feelings towards this patch. Yes, she's awesomely talented. Yes, she should draw more.
Things To Do Now That the World is Destroyed: Get New Companion Pets!
03.12.2010 um 10:59
So, apparently Deathwing coming out of the ground and destroying everything turned out to be one of the
best things to ever happen
to the World of Warcraft. It's kind of a strange way to look at things, with the paths of destruction in many zones, and the mounting tensions between even our own faction leaders, but as a player I can't help but feel like most things got pretty damn awesome. The new zones look phenomenal, the new quests / zones are more involved and storyline driven than ever before - even though I can't help but feel weird, it's like sitting in my room waiting for the apocalypse because I think it's going to be as awesome as
In the last week before the actual Cataclysm comes, there's already once again much to do that most players may not be able to make time for until after their actual Cataclysm plans (such as leveling to 85, leveling a goblin/worgen, etc.). It's okay - because the
time is now
! I've been playing World of Warcraft more this past week than I have in months, and I just wanted to let you guys in on some of the awesome things to do before Cataclysm hits and it's back to the gr
