LF1M Front-End Web Developer with High ilvl!
Wowhead is seeking a Front-End Web Developer who is passionate about WoW and creating high quality tools for the community to join our all-remote team. We are a small but effective team that communicates via text chat and voice meetings. We’re interested in applicants from many regions, but to maintain coordination with the team you’ll need to be available during traditional daytime US work hours. At Wowhead, being responsive to new changes in WoW is critical, as we want to always provide the very best information and tools to players, so some atypical hours are occasionally needed.
As a Front-End Web Developer you’ll build and test the front end of new pages and tools (both internal and user-facing), as well as help maintain and refine existing areas throughout the site. You should have a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of integrity and organization, plus a desire to be on the lookout for new advancements in web technologies that enhance the site. You should also have a strong eye for UI design and UX, as you’ll be bringing mockups of user-facing tools to life and iterating on them. You will also ensure that the Wowhead brand standards are followed for intuitive, accessible, and well-designed user experiences. You will need to have a solid understanding of component-based development, responsive and semantic design, and be able to create clean, cutting edge, and bug-free code with robust but clear & concise documentation. Knowledge of PHP is a plus for occasionally stepping into light backend web development, but more important is the willingness to do so and learn as needed.
Work closely with the Wowhead team, especially the site development team and our designer when implementing and improving tools, pages, and interface components.
Implement functional tools, pages, and interface components based on designer mockups with an eye for detail, user experience, and accessibility.
Revamp existing tools, pages, and interface components based on designer mockups.
Improve the overall experience for users when they interact with the site and any related applications though UX and UI.
Ensure that new and existing functionality is fully responsive at all screen sizes.
Ensure that new and existing functionality meets modern SEO standards, and implement improvements based on recommendations from SEO consultants.
Write great inline documentation in code, and participate in code reviews to improve coding standards and performance.
What you bring to the team:
Advanced experience with and enthusiasm for World of Warcraft.
Proven experience in modern front end web development and deployment.
Comfortable working fully remotely.
Ability to transform mockups/wireframes and high-level designs into semantic, accessible front end interfaces of complex web apps.
Understanding of analytics and SEO practices.
Advanced experience with:
HTML, CSS, and design
Version control, specifically Git
Web service integration
Bonuses to have:
Experience with and enthusiasm for high end raiding, Mythic+, or PvP.
Experience working on game community tools or data, especially for WoW.
Experience creating complex tools for users with clear UI/UX.
Experience styling with the “Sass” preprocessing language, though experience with “Less” is also notable.
