Pilgrim's Bounty (November 20 - November 26) Guide
Pilgerfreudenfest
is here and it's time to reflect on your journeys across Azeroth, share plentiful food, and exchange stories with friends. Throughout this holiday, you can partake in feasts near major towns by sitting at a
bountiful table
and enjoying the foods you find there.
Due to its focus on food, this holiday is especially well-known for being a quick and easy way to level up cooking. By purchasing a
Das Beste zum Pilgerfreudenfest - DAS Kochbuch

This holiday lasts from
November 20 at 4:00 AM
to
November 26 4:00 AM
. We'll be updating again on Sunday if anything has changed for this year's holiday.
Bountiful Tables
The main Pilgrim's Bounty festivities take place at bountiful tables which can be found located throughout many zones in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Various seasonal vendors and questgivers surround the major cities' tables, offering special cooking ingredients and related daily quests.

Introducing Wowhead's Mists of Pandaria Guide
Mists of Pandaria was announced last month, but Wowhead has a strong tradition of expansion guides--and this expansion will be no different.
Today we're excited to launch a preliminary version of Wowhead's

that organizes all the coverage from BlizzCon as well subsequent coverage from Blizzard. We've included screenshots, BlizzCon transcripts, and blue posts to make the information easy to reference. More importantly, this guide will be updated quite frequently to stay current as we learn even more details about the expansion.

4.3: Darkmoon Faire Preview Guide
The new Darkmoon Faire hit the PTR this morning and we couldn't wait to finally experience it after seeing all the teaser datamined items over the past few months! It's filled with quirky details, fun games, and lots of vanity items for all tastes. The Faire has been radically revamped, with new achievements, games, rewards, and currencies. We've covered it all in the guide below with numerous screenshots organized by attraction.
Highlights include:
The
replica Dungeon Tier
items we found several weeks ago made it to the PTR! This means you can transmogrify your armor into Dungeon Set 0 and .5 tier from vanilla (and without class restrictions too!). These sets had been removed in Cataclysm and were currently unobtainable on live.
Numerous new mounts and pets to purchase.
A large-scale PvP arena bloodbath.
New quests associated with mini-games as well as professions: this will grant
Gewinnlos des Dunkelmond-Jahrmarkts
which can be used to purchase vanity items and transmogrification gear.

Day of the Dead (Nov 1st.) Guide
Tag der Toten
is today in Azeroth--it only lasts one day and serves as an awesome minor holiday, similar to
Piratentag
, to close out Hallow's End. We've whipped up a small guide so you can know the quests and achievement for the event; make sure you don't skip out if you're an achievement hunter, as it boasts one achievement that can't be obtained any other day of the year!
Getting Started
Tip: Get some
Herkömmliches Mehl
and
Eiskalte Milch
(at least 1 of each) before heading to a
graveyard
. This will save you traveling time when doing the quest below.
To take part in the events festivities, you must first locate
Catrina
, an undead female (and a reference to
La Calavera Catrina
), who can be found near the
graveyard
of any capital city. She will give you some information regarding the holiday itself, and it is most important that you remember to /dance with her--upon doing so, you will earn the only achievement for this holiday,
Des toten Manns Party
. You will also gain the buff
Ehrt die Toten
, which will change you into either Catrina or her male counterpart, Chapman, for twelve hours.

Hallow's End is one of my favorite holidays in World of Warcraft. Running from from
October 18 - October 31

Event Changes
Before we get onto our guide, we'd like to cover the immediate changes for those who already are familiar with the event. There are quite a few with this event for this year, including new items and a new currency system:
Süßes Saures
.
Gone are the days of trick-or-treating hourly for a chance at an extremely rare mask or a rare vanity item. Instead, the event has been streamlined into a vendor and daily system, very similar to
Nobelgartenfest
. One new vanity pet,
Katzenfamiliar
, makes its appearance here on a vendor, for example; meanwhile, old favorites, such as
Gruselkürbis
have been made purchasable. There's also
Unheimliche Kiste
from a short questline and
Kleiner Weidenmann
from vendors which is a fun campfire.

Orange: A Guide to all Legendary Weapons

Many of these weapons have similarly striking questlines and unique models--even if you can't transmogrify them, they're worth collecting. Whether you're trying to farm one of these for the looks or lore, or were the first person in your guild to receive one during progression, legendaries have a special place in everyone's heart.
We've also gone through the database to highlight removed, silly, and temporary legendaries for your amusement, as they've got some funny stories behind them too!

Capes are the bane of transmogrification. There's so many options, they're never designed to match specific tier, and some of them cut into your cool weapons. Although there's a "show/hide cloak" option, hiding it is the easy way out.
This past week, Ashelia and I went through over a thousand capes in the database, sorting them by similar models for a different project and we decided to make it into a guide. With this guide, you can find the perfect cape to match the removed ones from Trial of the Grand Crusader, a crafted cape that's identical to a raid epic you've never seen, a completely unique model from a quest reward, or even a blue-quality version of your favorite tattered grey cape.
The capes have loosely been categorized by Unique Designs, Patterned, Two-Tone, Solid with Border, and Faction. From there, the capes have been further categorized as medium (hip-length), long (ankle-length), and split (two rectangles ending at waist). We've provided screenshots of all the capes we own, and you can always use

A Guide to Farming Vanilla Raids
Overwhelmed by what vanity gear to farm for your 4.3 Transmogrification gear? We've provided an overview of some quick instances to solo and start with--Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and Ahn'Qiraj. Once challenging 40-player dungeons that left vanilla raiders with unforgettable memories, these can be done with relatively little planning. They've got distinctive tier sets, interesting lore, and some items with unique models for all classes. You'll need to convert a party into a raid to zone in, as well as clear some bag space, but that's about it.
In addition to summaries about the instance's history, how to farm them at 85, and notable items, we've provided drop-down tables to each boss' loot so you can scan all the drops easily after the break. Happy farming!
Der Geschmolzene Kern
History:
Molten Core was the very first instance many vanilla raiders faced--there's timeless memories of forgetting to skin core hounds, blowing up the raid as "the bomb," and of course, seeing Ragnaros spawn for the first time. While it can be easily soloed now, Molten Core used to be a 40-player dungeon that caused painful wipes and granted players

The

Festive tables full with food can be found outside of Orgrimmar and Ironforge, from which players can have their fill of food and drink as they celebrate the memory of their faction's fallen champions. NPC Fashion: Dress Like Your Favorite Character
Want to look like Inquisitor Whitemane, or maybe Tyrande Whisperwind? Following the recent series of Transmogrification guides, I've gotten a ton of feedback emails asking about the armor worn by distinctive NPCs.
We've compiled a quirky list of favorites--both celebrity NPCs and lowly grunts--so you can dress up like your favorite hero or villain. Most outfits are fine for mogging (of course, the NPC's outfit has to match your character's primary armor type), but if you want to get the *exact* look to match some NPCs, you'll have to mix armor types. (If you think of another NPC that should be on the list, I'd be happy to look up matching armor and add it to the guide.)
There's also numerous inaccessible pieces of armor worn by NPCs (cough, the shield worn by the
Wächter der Delegation Silbermonds
)--perhaps the Darkmoon Faire will introduce some of these fun recolors and robes in 4.3! Personally, it would neat to see Ysera's armor in game, or Thrall's.
The Visual Roleplayer's Gear List
and
Kirina's Closet
were invaluable resources in compiling this list--we've featured some of their creations and you should check them out for even more NPC ideas!

Transmogrification, Part 2: Unique Items and More Tier
Last guide covered the
basics of Transmogrification
(shorted by the blues to Mogging) and class-specific tier sets, but what if you want something a little more creative? In this guide, I'll provide an overview of Void Storage as well as cover distinctive weapons, some unique items, and armor sets that do not have class restrictions.
There are several types of items that cannot be transmogged (and we've created an item filter for this):
Legendaries: a blue post clarified they can't be used :(
Stat-less gear: no starter, holiday, or vendor-bought gear. (How cool would it be to have a tank in a level 1 shield?)
Armor/weapon disguises that don't use the accepted type for a class: DKs as rogues, hunters as warlocks, casters wielding large axes, etc.
Silly items: gear in the shapes of fish, flowers, or frying pans.
Even with these restrictions, there should be enough to keep you busy collecting!
We've updated this guide in 4.3 to include transmog set links and image mouseovers for item sets in the last table.

Free to Play: Getting the Most out of Starter Edition Accounts
Last month, Blizzard introduced free-to-play Starter Edition Accounts. With these accounts, players could level up to 20--of course with some restrictions--and play for free indefinitely. It's an easy way for new players to test out the game, but it's also gained popularity among twinks who are looking for even more of a challenge with in-game restrictions. We've covered all the things you can and can't do on a trial account below.
Activating an Account
Players can get a Starter Account edition by visiting
the home page
, receiving a Recruit-a-Friend invitation, or through a trial key obtained from other Blizzard products.
Once signed up, you will be prompted to download the game, which can be played as the streaming client downloads data in the background.
Previous trial accounts made before 4.2, which had expired, are permanently reactivated. Characters level 20 and below on these accounts can be played again.

New Wowhead Feature: Guides
A lot of Wowhead's forum goers pen some pretty awesome guides--from what gear to choose for a relevant patch to 10-man strategies for Firelands, we've seen it all. Even our own volunteer Perculia has written some great guides. However, there's never been a good way to highlight these contributions and let more of our database see them.
Until now, anyway.
Recently we have released a new functionality to Wowhead: the ability to write and share guides. This is in its first phase of implementation which is its most basic. Wowhead users can now
write their own guides
, share them with Wowhead's community, and view others' guides as well. Eventually, those users who write guides will find themselves with more perks and there will be forum integration with guides, but we wanted to get this phase out to the public for testing and feedback. We've also imported the most viewed of Wowhead's guides to serve as an example and a testing platform for those who want to see what an ideal and complete guide looks like.
So go forth and educate the masses! There's even an achievement (or four) for those of you who get really into guide writing!
